Laylat al-Qadr is most likely on one of the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan. Many scholars emphasize the 27th night, but it could be any of these:
Stand in prayer during the night with sincerity and devotion
Read, reflect, and connect with the words of Allah
The Prophet ﷺ taught: "O Allah, You are Pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me"
Glorify and remember Allah through tasbih, tahmid, and takbir
Give generously — charity on this night is multiplied immensely
Seclude yourself in the mosque for worship during the last ten nights
Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power or Night of Decree) is the most sacred night in the Islamic calendar. It is the night when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through the Angel Jibreel. Allah describes it in Surah Al-Qadr: "The Night of Power is better than a thousand months." Worship on this single night is equivalent to more than 83 years of worship.
The Prophet ﷺ described some signs of Laylat al-Qadr: the night is calm and pleasant, neither too hot nor too cold. The moon appears like half a plate. The sun rises the next morning without strong rays, appearing pale. Angels descend in abundance, and there is a sense of tranquility and peace throughout the night.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet ﷺ: "If I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say?" He replied: "Say: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni (O Allah, You are Pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me)." This beautiful dua encapsulates the essence of the night — seeking Allah's forgiveness and mercy.
